YEAR 5

Dear Parents and students,

It has definitely been a challenging Term 2 for all of us. Firstly I would like to thank all of the parents for their support during remote learning. Thank you for helping your children get connected with Zoom, for the hours of helping your children and being the “teacher” at home.

I also congratulate the Year 5 class for rising to the challenge and completing 8 weeks of remote learning. Thank you to the students that logged into Zoom sessions every morning and afternoon. The students that put in so much effort with their work, completing and sending it to me- I thank you greatly.

I believe everyone is relieved to be back at school, with face to face teaching and being with their friends. Although, after asking the students, I had very mixed opinions on home learning. Please read below.

Feyza- In class you can’t listen to music, at home it’s good because you can work in your pyjamas and listen to music while you work.

Ercan- I liked home learning because I could just wake up, go downstairs and start learning.

Ayaan- The good thing was you can finish your work and play games or sleep and that no one was there to boss you.

Mohammed- I liked it as the Zoom sessions were shorter than class and after you finish your work, you can play games.

Tamer- I liked it because you could play games outside, sleep and XBOX when you finished your work.

Yassin- The good thing was you could do your Zoom session in bed, you can watch TV while you’re working. Bad thing is losing the charge on your computer.

AIza- The good thing is the class was shorter time and the bad thing was we had to do all of the work on our own with no teachers help.

Hamza S- The bad things were not having face-to face time with your friends and having internet problems. The good things about home learning were eating whenever I wanted and wearing whatever clothes I wanted.

Zuhair- The bad thing was that you couldn’t play with your friends, the good was that you could do the Zoom class anywhere and your work whenever your wanted.

Fatima H- the bad thing was even if you were sick, you had to do Zoom, the good thing was you could have your blanket around while in class.

Hamza A- I didn’t like home learning at all because my camera didn’t work, my work wouldn’t upload and it’s much easier being at school.

Banin- I liked how I could play games or do my work whenever I want, but I didn’t like my brother distracting me.

Noor- I didn’t like my brothers distracting me and internet problems, but I did like being at home.

Batul- I didn’t like my cousins ripping my work. I liked sleeping in the mornings.

Khadijah- The good thing was I could go outside and play on my scooter and spend time with my family, the bad thing was my brother distracting me.

Mutahira- I liked how I could spend time with my brother and eat more, I liked learning at home because if I didn’t finish my work, I could finish it later. The bad thing was my little distracting me.

Maryam- I liked learning at home, when I finished my work- I could chat to my friends. The bad thing was I missed my teacher and friends at school.

Fatema A- The good things were spending more time with our family and having more time to do our work, the bad things were internet problems, brother distracting me, missing my friends, no teacher to help and all the work the teacher gives us at school.

Omar- It was too noisy at home to work and I couldn’t open my camera. It was hard to do work at home because there was no teacher at home.
